Can you believe June 4th is right around the corner? That means it’s time to dust off yer’ boots and join us for a night of tasty BBQ, line dancing, a silent auction, reminiscing with old friends, and some other fun surprises.

If you attended last year’s Hoedown, you know how fun it was and won’t want to miss this year. If you missed it last year, you’ve heard what a blast it was, so make a plan to come on by the Codman Barn Saturday June 4th at 6pm to wet your whistle with old friends at the Magic Garden Hoedown.

You do not want to miss out on the great items up for bid! Take a look at this mailbox painted by our very own Magic Garden toddlers!

For tickets: please call the office (781)259-8161 or email us at: office@magic-garden.org. Hope to see you all there!

We had fun being scientists experimenting with baking soda and vinegar! We made discoveries involving color changes, chemical reactions and the transformation of state. Each child got a bowl of baking soda and vinegar, and then chose a color to put in the vinegar. They were so excited to watch the baking soda fizz up.  They got to use several different colors so that they could discover how the colors mixed together. The children made lots of wonderful observations such as “It’s melting” “There’s bubbles” “It’s an experiment” “I’m making a volcano” “Mine’s getting fizzy” “I’m having lots of fun”. We will continue our experiments by making a volcano: using  small bottles and some dish soap.

Next, continuing on our learning about nature and growth, we will be planting seeds in our garden and taking a walk to the Codman Farm, to plant in the children’s garden and visit the animals.

April was a rainy month, however fun and excitement abounds in Rainbow Room.  April showers bring May flowers, and the children made a bouquet of flowers using their hands and ink pads.  We created rain sticks from paper towel rolls and rice. Did you notice your child’s yellow toes? They had lots of fun stepping in yellow paint and walking across our sun to the song “We’re Walking on Sunshine, Oh Yeah and Doesn’t It Feel Good!”

Rainbow room created a painting for the Lincoln Community Fair Celebration. The children had a great time with forks, spoons and knives that were dipped in paint, to produce a wonderful painting! We also have been using the felt board to practice counting and one to one correspondence.  “Goldilocks and The Three Bears” and “Five Green and Speckled Frogs” are favorites. The children love to recreate these stories using dramatic play.

Next month we will start a curriculum based on the song “One Two Buckle My Shoe.”
