The Rainbow friends continue with this year’s theme of “Looking out the Window.” After the recent Snow Moon, the students observed the large globe hanging in the sky. Several children remarked, “The moon! Look at the moon!” This, of course, sparked some learning opportunities in the classroom. The girls and boys are enjoying the classic picture book, Goodnight Moon. Written by famed author and illustrator, Margaret Wise Brown, this selection has become a classroom favorite! Our students love recalling each object the narrator whispers goodnight to. A red balloon, two kittens, the bunny’s dollhouse. Both big book and audio editions have been incorporated into the curriculum. To capitalize on this interest, the children recently enjoyed the Goodnight Moon mathematics game. This cognitive extension assists pupils as they explore numeral identification, counting and one-to-one correspondence. So much learning and fun with the Rainbow kiddos!
Each and every week, the Rainbow Room is treated to some very special visitors. The Pre-K students (Sunshine and Starburst) have been stopping by the class to be “BIG HELPERS.” The Rainbow children continue to enjoy meeting new friends who collaborate on art ventures, interactive Circle Times and yummy Snack Times. Rainbow Room loves when the “big kids” come over to lend a hand. Coming soon…Rainbow Room will help to celebrate Magic Garden’s annual collaboration with the National Education Association’s Read Across America event.
