As always, the Rainbow Room is a flutter with child-driven education, fun and friendship! Magic Garden’s annual butterfly hatch made quite an impact on the Rainbow children. Our students keenly observed the caterpillars as they crawled about, transformed into chrysalides and, finally, broke free as beautiful butterflies. What a rich and unforgettable adventure in learning! The Rainbow friends continue to enjoy a bevy of themed activities. During numerous Circle Time meetings, the girls and boys listened to Eric Carle’s classic board book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Incorporating gross-motor movement and dramatic play, the children loved using scarfs to act out the life cycle sequence of this creature. Our Rainbow toddlers continue to flap around the classroom on a daily basis. Too adorable! Exploring the content area of art, the Rainbow students each had the opportunity to create and construct a whole-class, three-dimensional caterpillar! A variety of recycled materials were available for creative repurposing. Do visit our gorgeous display in the classroom!
Coming up: A fun summer filled with water play activities!
