The Rainbow students are kicking off the 2016-2017 school year with lots of fun, friendship and learning. During a recent campus stroll, the children observed a very compelling spider web hidden in a corner. Well, why not embark on a unit about spiders? During Circle Time, the children listened to The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle (literacy). After, the children sang “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” (musical component) and pretended to crawl and creep around the classroom (gross-motor component). At Choice Time, the Rainbow kiddos each crafted their own three -dimensional spider web installation (artistic expression). Lastly, the boys and girls counted a spider’s legs (math and science components). How fun!
The Rainbow Room continues to enjoy enrichment opportunities. The children love rocking, rolling, balancing and hopping at Tumbling with Miss Jennifer. Jane, the librarian from the Lincoln Public Library has been visiting with a bevy of books about farms and insects. What’s coming soon? A possible winter wonderland exploration!
