You can’t have flowers without Sunshine! During recent outdoor adventures, the Sunshine Class noticed the myriad flowers blooming on our magical campus. A new mini unit of exploration soon sprouted: flower power! During Circle Time, our students learned about a flower’s life cycle (seed, germination, seedling, plant). Also, during a multi-step color, cut and sequence venture, our kiddos investigated the anatomy of a flower (root, stem, leaf, petal). Did you know that broccoli is actually considered to be a flower? Our Sunshine children do! To complete our learning, each child helped fill Magic Garden’s summer pots with marigolds, pansies and impatiens. It’s that time of year again! The Starburst students recently visited MG’s prized campus garden. Immediately, the children grabbed hoes, spades and rakes and began tidying the raised beds. Several kiddos observed the remarkable growth in our strawberry plants since their initial planting last year. They counted almost fifty-five flowers! Strawberry-themed cooking adventures are surely in the plans for Starburst. During Choice Time, the girls and boys all took the opportunity to help Ms. Michele plant pumpkins and zucchini from seed. Growth stages and plant anatomy were just some topics explored during this hand-on activity. Lastly, during a cozy story time, the Starburst friends listened to the classroom favorite, Planting a Rainbow by Lois Elhert. Harvest season can’t come soon enough! Up next: water play fun!
